I'm
preparing to audition of Thursday. :) My week was great. I'm learning sooooo
much! haha. There's a saying at the MTC, Days feel like weeks, weeks feel like
days, and it is RIDICULOUSLY true. Last Monday, we had a food eating contest as
a district, and I ate three entrees and a side in 12 min. Well, I won.
hahaha...by a lot.
The picture you sent is just the 6 or us in our room. There are 12 more people
in our district. Haha. But from left to right there is: Me, elders burgoyne,
Skidmore, Mullins, Nelson, and Jackson. We have a great time together. Elderr
Mullins is...wild.....I wish I could explain how much of a character he is.
There 5 of us going to Ft. Lauderdale, 1 going to orlando, 3 to Tampa Bay
Florida, 5 to Boston, 4 to New York.
Thrid
week is almost over! Weird! We had our first TRC (training recourse center...or
something) Random people come and act as themselves and we have to teach them.
They were all members, and that was difficult, but we taught one guy that is
native to Haiti. That was neat. Elder Burgoyne and I are getting increasingly
better at teaching. We've had our best lessons yet this week, and I love it.
I'm getting more fluent in Creole. Is there anything specific Spencer wants to
hear in Creole? I'll write some.

I
forgot to tell you, I did sealings in the temple today. It was cool. We can
only be sealed as children of course, but it was awesome.

Sounds like everyone has been plenty busy. I wish you
all luck as school gets started! When do you start? :)
I'm doing fantastic! I love P-day because I get to
email you and go the temple. This week went by a lot faster then last week.
It's great to be learning so much. At last night's fireside, Via Sikahema spoke
to us. I don't know if you know who he is, but he is a very successful football
player, and now news anchor. He to told us that of all the things that he has
accomplished in his life (and there is a huge list) a mission accumulates to
far more than all of them put together. It made me excited for everything I
will be able to do. It was a great reminder. He was really cool and got all of
us really excited to serve, not that I wasn't already, but in a new way.
I don;t know if you can find it anywhere, but we watched
a video after the fireside called the Character of Christ. by Elder Bednar. Try
top find it. It's wonderful. I;ve never been afriad of a General Authority
before, but Elder Bednar scares me into wanting to the best I can. I have a lot
to work on. Haha. I've never felt so humble in my entire life when that movie
was over. He also talked about the pioneers a bit, saying that it's great that
we rejoice in their faith so much, but what have I done to prove mine? I keep
being reminded of my blessing when I was set apart, and I've been thinking of
ways that I can and will be a pioneer, including proving my own faith.
i didn't audition this week for a musical number becasue
I've had a sore throat and I'm just getting over and a stuffy nose. My voice
has been super weak. Hannah auditioned the day after she got here and is
singing at the new missionary meeting this week. I've seen her a few times now.
It's awesome having my best friend as a missionary here too. It's hard not act
like we did oin college sometimes though. Haha. It's a good thing we aren;t ariound
each other all the time.
Creole is getting easier. It's getting hard to write,
pray, and speak certain phrases in english, becsue I'm getting used to them in
Creole. Haha.
Tell Grandma/Grandpa I met Sister Ogden from Mesquite.
She knows an elder in my district that used to live in Mesquite, Elder
Lee.

Mwen Chari
fanmi,
Yesterday,
we had a devotional. We have one every tuesday at the Marriot Center at
BYU. It was so cool to walk over with thousands of missionaries. It was
the first devotional to ever be broadcast to the other MTC's world wide. I was
in the choir for it, we sang "Jesus once of humble birth", and we
practiced an hour before the devotional. Â They don't tell us who is
speaking until a few minutes before the devotional. Â Elder Richard G.
Scott's name appeared on the board. Â Everyone was so excited. We all stood
when he entered the room.I was also beyond excited to sing for him. I was one
in 1000+ voices, but I got to sing for an apostle and it was such a blessing.
He spoke on prayer, and it was so powerful. He blessed us with his
authority over and over, especially the elders & sisters speaking foriegn
languages dependant on our faith/diligence.
At one
point, he got very emotional and told us why. He said that he had been praying
that his wife who passed away in the 1990's would be with us in the devotional,
and he was emotional because he was grateful she was there.

Bonjou tout monde! (Hello everyone!)
I'm having a great time in the MTC! It's a little crazy and hecktic, but I love the Spirit that is here. The food is great here, and I'm glad my classroom is on the top floor of our building, because the staris might help me from getting huge. HAHa. I love learning creole. It difficult, and I'm really slow, but my accent is good. I'm in a really big district. There are 18 of us. More Creole speakers then they have ever had. our Teachers told us we are pioneering the Creole language. It's fantastic. The rest of our Zone/branch are French speaking elders. They're a little wild for my taste, which kind of surprised me since they are speaking french. I loved going to the temple this morning and the devotionals here are wonderful!
A brief thought for everyone:
Think about the missionary purpose, maybe discuss it in family home evening. Then, talk about the purpose of the missionary purpose, and what that means to you. The purpose has quickly become so important to me, since we began to teach people in Creole two days after arriving here.
Love you all, and miss you!

We had a lot of fun at annual family Felkins family reunion. This year we went up to Moon Lake and everyone camped at a group site. Ryan just bought a new camper and they really enjoyed breaking it in. Erin and Brandon also had a new camper which fit them nicely. I think we all enjoyed being together and the food was really good. Enjoy the pics.
